Five serial WAGS will be leaving the comfort of their luxurious lifestyles far behind them to investigate the darker side of the World Cup football tournament in a programme that will be aired this weekend.

We have learnt that Chantelle Tagoe, Imogen Thomas, Elen Rives, Amii Grove and Elie Darby travelled to Cape Town, South Africa, in order to gain first-hand experience of the country’s orphan crisis, HIV pandemic and social deprivation.

While we love our WAG’s, admittedly they are far better known for their fondness of material possessions and their obsession with looking good than they are for their interest in serious global issues! We’re looking forward to seeing how the five girls cope when they meet with the harsh realities of life for many South Africans- and we guess it will give up a chance to see if Elen Rives is as awful as she looks!

The first part of this five-part documentary series called ‘Wags, Kids and World Cup Dreams’ is aired on BBC3 on Sunday at 9pm and we’re hoping that this strange mix of luxury and hardship will make compelling viewing for our readers.

BBC3 said the five women would “roll up their sleeves and work in some of the poorest and most deprived neighbourhoods” in South Africa.

The channel said: “They will be faced with the stark reality of the country’s orphan crisis, HIV pandemic and social breakdown, a world away from the glamorous experience the players will have throughout the event. To complement the series there will be 5×30 individual documentaries on each of the Wags, giving viewers an insight into their glamorous lives here in the UK.”

  1. I can’t wait for this programme. I love WAGS and I will be staying in with a glass of rose on Sunday to watch it! Thanks WAGS World Cup!

  2. Wagex’s they should be called I don’t know any of them never heard of them only Elen as she was Lampards ex but I have just read that Imogen is a serial Wag or serial anyone according to reports and Chantelle is a homewrecker due to her partners wife now exwife with 3 kids being dumped after her finding out he was having an affair with chantelle and Ami another serial wag? sorry don’t know the other girl but apparently she has been with her partner for years! why didn’t they send wags who people had heard of? I would have loved to have seen Posh and Colleen and Curran getting their hands dirty……

  3. i think the point of this program is to high light the differences between those that are in need and those that live to excess and the extreme differences between . Just think how far the money from one pair of wags shoes would go or even what half or quarter of the weekly wage of there partners would do ! i think they should be praised for helping to highlight the problem and some have proven themselves to be more then the proproganda, whilst others amongst them only showed that the condition of there skin and lips out weighed everything . I hope they all have felt the things that were shown to them and they bring that feeling back and with there “high profle ” highlight the short comings . when we can spend however much on that stadium AND YET so near are so many with so little. Excess and need ! want and greed
