Prince Harry let slip his feelings about the X Factor judge while talking to McElderry at a charity awards ceremony on Monday night, saying: ‘I’m jealous that you got to spend weeks with Cheryl.’
Harry told the 18-year-old performing arts student he was ’so jealous that you got to spend weeks with Cheryl’.
A source close to McElderry said: ‘Harry made it clear that Cheryl definitely has the royal seal of approval. It was a highly amusing moment.’
Prince Harry also told McElderry how he had wanted to meet him backstage after the show, adding: ‘I was trying to hide behind Simon Cowell and sneak in – but I couldn’t get past the security!’
